Growing healthy communities requires a God-led, holistic, and affirming approach in three key areas
Just as Jesus cared for his followers’ spiritual and physical needs, we believe the keys to flourishing communities lie in addressing physical, spiritual, social, economic, and environmental needs.
We build long-term relationships by listening to the needs of the community and partnering with them to create solutions.
Through training, education, and accessibility to tools, we strive to empower and encourage communities to be responsible for their own health and advocate for the resources they need to thrive.
Predisan’s roots began in healthcare, teaching basic health care principles and techniques to community health volunteers. Today it has grown to care for an under-resourced population of 150,000 providing affordable, yet high-quality primary and specialized healthcare services, delivered by over 150 well trained staff members.
There is a huge gap in the funding and availability of basic healthcare in the Olancho Department, due to its remoteness and economic status. Many cannot afford the expense of traveling hours to larger cities for basic medical care, let alone specialized services.
The GSMC is the central hub of our healthcare services. It offers 24/7 general medicine, over 20 specialties, modern diagnostic capabilities, pharmaceutical services, two surgery rooms, and ambulance service.
Since 1988, the Center for Rehabilitation of Patients with Addictions (CEREPA) has helped thousands of people from Central America and the U.S. to overcome substance abuse through its residential recovery program.
Predisan exists because of our love for Jesus. Across all our work, we desire to share His Good News and join Him in bringing God’s wholeness, physical and spiritual, to His creation.
We serve the spiritual needs of our staff, patients, and communities through our chaplain program: a network of chaplains guiding spiritual development through prayer, worship, Bible study, counseling, training, and workshops.
Additionally, they play a vital role as liaisons between Predisan and community leaders in our Community Transformation projects.
Addressing the foundational needs of communities is vital to realizing our vision of seeing people experience God’s wholeness.
In addition to people’s immediate health and spiritual needs, we seek to empower our communities through collaborative programs focused on spiritual formation, community leadership training, community health, educational development, student health, school lunches, food security, and water and sanitation.
