About the Clinics
- Predisan's six rural and mountain clinics provide primary healthcare delivery to extremely poor neighborhoods on the outskirts of Catacamas and in the mountains to the east. Working in the mountains and serving those in great need is extremely meaningful to Predisan’s staff and volunteers.
- The five mountain clinics are the only providers of healthcare for approximately 7,800 people in 52 remote communities. One barrio clinic on the rural outskirts of Catacamas provides care to more than 5,600 people who live in an extremely poor community.
- The six clinics are: Las Cabas, Agua Caliente, Masicales, La Union and El Porvenir in the mountains, and Bella Vista on the outskirts of Catacamas. Each clinic is managed by an auxiliary nurse (comparable to an LPN) and operated by a health committee chosen by the community. Each community provides the clinic facility. Providing community-based primary healthcare which includes pre-natal care, infant and child care, family planning, prevention programs, nutrition education, first aid, snake bite treatment and health worker training is the focus of the work in the clinics..
- Central to the clinics’ work is proclaiming Jesus Christ and the hope He offers for the human condition. Predisans’ chaplains serve in the mountains and within the clinics.
