PREDISAN WORKS IN CATACAMAS AND THE MOUNTAINS
Predisan’s very heart since its founding has been providing medical care to those in great need. Today, our medical work is carried out at eight clinics in Catacamas and the nearby mountains and through numerous health initiatives. It is our desire to effectively serve the Olancho communities with excellent community based primary healthcare services provided by highly trained staff and volunteers with the heart and compassion of Christ. We serve the Olancho region through a network of facilities that includes the Good Samaritan Clinic, one barrio clinic and CEREPA addiction treatment facility, all in Catacamas, and five medical clinics in the mountains. In each of our facilities we desire to continue to: pioneer and provide professional training and development opportunities; enhance the infrastructure and expand physical facilities to achieve best practices in patient service; recruit highly qualified and well trained volunteers and to monitor quality of personalized healthcare.
OUR KEY AREAS OF SERVICE:
THE GOOD SAMARITAN CLINIC, Catacamas
The beautiful Good Samaritan Clinic is a welcoming oasis to the citizens of Catacamas and the mountains. Every week, patients are seen by Predisan’s doctors, nurses and medical staff. Each year, surgical brigades from the United States work with Predisan’s staff in performing urgent surgeries. In 2011, the Good Samaritan Clinic provided 50,357 patient encounters. THE RURAL AND MOUNTAIN CLINICS
Predisan’s five mountain clinics provide the only medical care available to 7,800 residents of 52 mountain communities. One clinic on the outskirts of Catacamas serves about 5,600 residents in a poor rural barrio. The goal of these clinics is providing community-based primary health care. CEREPA ADDICTION TREATMENT CENTER, Catacamas
The attraction of drugs and alcohol is strong in Honduras, and it gives rise to family neglect, violence and crime – all amidst extreme poverty. CEREPA, the Center for Rehabilitation of Patients with Addictions, offers hope. CEREPA is the only comprehensive, inpatient, Christian addiction treatment center in Honduras. Its program meshes a 12-step program with a Christian focus and professional care. Left, CEREPA treats the mind, body and spirit of those suffering from addiction. Often, visiting groups take on the clients in soccer.
