About CEREPA
CEREPA, Predisan's addiction treatment center in Catacamas, has helped patients overcome alcohol and drug addiction since its founding in 1987.
CEREPA is the only comprehensive, inpatient, Christian addiction treatment center in Honduras, and has provided hope to more than 3,400 people struggling with addiction.
CEREPA meshes a 12-step program with the message of Jesus and professional care. The program reflects the light of faith, and patients often accept Christ and are baptized during treatment. Outpatient follow-up care is key to its program. Each year former CEREPA patients and their families celebrate recovery at an anniversary dinner.
The patients at CEREPA come from all parts of Honduras, from Guatemala and Nicaragua and from the United States. The treatment plan includes in-patient rehabilitation for men and women with individual therapy, group therapy and family counseling. Vocational work and training in agriculture and related areas is key to the program.
CEREPA is outside Catacamas in a pleasant building with a large courtyard. It is surrounded by garden plots and mountain views.
A large student Prevention Program is an unheralded part of CEREPA’s work. In 2011, 77 workshops we delivered in elementary, high schools and universities, AA groups and to the Honduras Institute of Childhood and Family (IHNFA) on self-esteem, values, sexuality and the dangers of alcohol and drug addiction. 5 workshops were given for parents.
