BERTHA'S STORY

Bertha Euceda was gravely ill, and this single mother of five found medical treatment and love at Predisan. A volunteer from Jackson Healthcare in Atlanta arranged for a special gift.

From Friends of Predisan Newsletter, Winter 2010

In the spring of 2009, Berta Euceda came to Predisan. She was seriously ill. A single mother with five children, Bertha was diagnosed with a malignant abdominal tumor. A brigade from Jackson Healthcare, Atlanta, performed surgery on her, and more than that, took her into their hearts.

Before leaving Catacamas, the brigade provided funds for Bertha to receive chemotherapy. Predisan staff arranged and facilitated that in the capital city of Tegucigalpa, four hours from Predisan. As she recovered, the staff provided help and spiritual comfort to her and her family.

Ed McEachern, vice president of marketing for Jackson & Coker,
who was with the brigade, was deeply touched by this mother's plight. He asked his elderly mother to knit a prayer shawl for Bertha to remind her to pray and to remind her that many were praying for her. Martha Rivera, Doris Clark and Santos Espinoza, Predisan's director of spiritual development, delivered it to her last August. At left, she proudly displays it with two of her children nearby.

Bertha's future is uncertain, of course, but God's help through the Jackson brigade and Predisan provided her with love, medical care and hope. Please pray for her.
